Thank you. Now I’m arranging a medley of Kyary P tunes after realizing a number of them use the exact same chord progressions.
Stay tuned ! Apparently I’m not done yet with cheesy pop songs !
So, should Kyle start thinking about selling Bachido cheese along with his coffee…?
Ooooh i’d SO buy Bachido cheese! I LOVE cheese :DD
Great job as always Kevin! I enjoyed Pamyu Pamyu ballad version. Kind of reminds me of some of the Yoshida Brothers songs like Namonaki Oka (one of my favorite songs of alltime)
HAHA You just HAD to make Gangnam style! I was actually waiting for this day to happen. Everyone knew it was coming… Just a matter of time and place…
And Kevin
That is very awesome news about your first paying gig! I’d really like to hear your performance of those tunes! Keep it up! It’s an exciting thing to perform for people isn’t it?
Yeah it was really exciting to play for people but i’ve done it a few times now when some of our family friends come to visit us and they always want to see and hear what is Shamisen :D.
And about hearing/seeing the “performance” which is quite bad playing actually, but they don’t know how shamisen is supposed to
sound like, so they’ll be none the wiser
Point being my performance was filmed there so i’m going to get it to my email in a week or so. Maybe i’ll post it here then?
awesome that it was a great gig! and this ponpon actually sounds awesome I don’t know what everyone is talking about here as if that was not good music (granted I have only listened to Kevin’s version and am not familiar with the original yet
oh . . . w . . . o . . . w . . . after hearing the original this is real movingly awesome . . . ahaha I only heard the I love you phone at the end just now when I listened to it for a second time . . .
Thanks a lot, Kevin… YOU’VE SPREAD THE BUG! After listening to ‘Ninja Ri Ban Ban’, it got trapped in the canals of my brain. The only thing to do was procure all the Kyary Pamyu Pamyu I could find.
Just sat there for 30 minutes with the chorus of ‘Ninja Ri Ban Ban’ on repeat to get it down.
Adrian,
We gotta Skype soon and make sure we are learning this in the same tuning/key etc.
For those of you out there who possibly might not know what Adrian and I are talking about, I am planning a little side project this spring. I have become obsessed with the idea of posting up a YouTube video of a bunch of bachido members all playing ninjali ban ban by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu on Shamisen. Of course anyone else is welcome to join in if you want. Kyoko San? Jamie Low? Johnathan?
I only ask that you learn a solid part before you get up here. It’s because we will all be concentrating so hard on Kita no Hibiki that my little Pamyu Pamyu Shamisen idea will have to be done very quick with no actual time to rehearse! So if you know a part or two and can play it well please contact me soon so we can discuss the tuning and which part who is playing etc.
Thanks Bachido!
…I need to reach Grant Reimer!!! Oh lord!!!
Kevin san: ninjali ban ban main some phrases can be possibly played even by me. What beats me is just high speed. At least I am happy to practice for it!
さび のぶぶんだけなら すぐにでも ひけそうですが。
My apologies for just entering this thread! So much epicness happened in this thread so quickly that I didn’t know where to join in!
Like most of us, Ninjali ban ban got stuck in my head like gum on a shoe. I’m going to practice it again in about an hour and I think I’ll have the lead part ready. Kevin, do you have any preferences on who plays what part? As you know, I’ve always been a melodic sort of feller and so would feel most comfortable with playing the lead line (or harmony to it)
my little Pamyu Pamyu Shamisen idea will have to be done very quick with no actual time to rehearse!
Ah, about that. I will be writing everyone soon, but just a quick update on Misawa! Basically, I thought the hotel was gonna be reserved from April 30th to May 2nd, but Nitta san told me that he reserved the hotel for May 2nd only (when he and his family are arriving). Anyone going before May 2nd will need to either find a hotel or stay at Kevin’s house (which I believe he is fine with).
In any case! This means if we go up to Misawa before May 2nd (which most of us are/were planning to do?), we’ll have some extra time to work/film the song!
Yes everyone can stay at my place but either
a.) bring a sleeping bag
Or
b,) bring some extra cash to purchase a sleeping bag!
I have some extra bedding but not enough for the epic number of potential guests!
Wooooooo! Looking forward to this!
I am planning to reserve a hotel in Misawa on May 1, because it takes 8 or 9 hours to get there from my house by shin kan sen. I think I can get to Kevin’s place in the morning of 2nd.
It is strange airplane trip there costs and takes more hours and money to get to Aomori because there is no plane from our Chubu Centrair airport which is located close to us. So I decided to take the Shin kan sen. And still takes whole one day. Considering that most of you are flying from abroad, my trip is domestic and nothing so hard, though.
As time getting closer, I get more and more excited and really lookin forward to seeing you all!!!
Kyoko San,
My new Skype name is bachidokevin ( haha, I copied you).
Please try to contact me regarding ninjali ban ban. I want to make sure everyone learning it is in the same key (tuning),
Yoroshiku !
Kevin
Kevin san, thank you for your kind offer. I will PM you about it.
Watching all these videos. awesome.
Kevin you are so inspirational, thanks for sharing your joy.
Hey thanks Attila!
for kevin :
I would so buy that I guess
damn I had japanese taxi guests today and forgot to ask them whether they also liked k pam pam . . . well they did know shamisen and when I pointed to my instrument and dropped the term they were pleasantly surprised and didn’t laugh about what could be considered a far fetched relation also I let them read Kyoko’s “traffic safety” “ah yes” lucky charm I am wearing quite prominently on my jacket zip . . .
although I consider the lucky charm a strong asset against future less pleasant people I also ordered the Guardian Angel 2 pepper spray cannon a couple of minutes ago at amazon and it should be delivered next week . . .
ah . . .

BH: I am glad to know you are cherishing the lucky charm and appealing to Japanese passengers!
“I love you” video ending on the phone - I sense a Bachido potential video meme!
