I’m back to building my Shamisen, and I have a question?
whats the most accurate distance from the Kamigoma to the Koma?
Is it really play it by ear with the three fingers rule?

its just that most of the instruments I have build comes with the distance from the nut to the bridge… so you can calculate the fret/finger positions. Unless I missed it I don’t believe Kyle’s book has that information. just the three finger placement.
Hi Terry,
Yes, it’s pretty much a play it by ear thing, as the koma is adjusted for the desired tone. Nitta san and other players like to place the koma around four fingers from the neo for a warmer tone, other players like around two fingers from the neo for a sharper tone.
