Thank you for linking to my Youtube

I never meant to disturb the flow of the discussion in this forum, but I’ve been wanting to thank Kyle for linking to my Youtube (in which I’m interviewing Liam Morgan in Manchester) for a long time, so decided to do so now.

I was very happy that my Youtube was helpful to start a good discussion in this forum, not to mention to raise Liam’s profile.

My Youtube is genuinely to satisfy my curiousity, as well as to let Japanese people know about their tradtional culture being appreciated in other part of the world.

I have to say I’m quite proud I created that Youtube! Don’t you think I deserve a little bit of credit?

You aren’t disturbing anyone!
Everyone really appreciates your contributions and it indeed was a great video! We’re all very happy to have been able to see it!
I personally have never been so ambitious as to make my own videos like that. However when I’m teamed up with Kevin or Kyle, we all usually go crazy and make lots of movies! I really admire you for going out of your way and creating something of your own!
Thank you for spreading the Bachido love!

It was an interesting video to watch and I’m sure Liam enjoyed the publicity

When he’s on the posters and making a million a day, he should give you a penny or two

Thank you so much for your reply, Grant and Karl.
Karl, thank you for acknowledging my video.
I have to say Kyle is pretty amazing too, starting this site and forum. By doing so, he helped hundreds of shamisen players in the world. Absolutely hat off! I’m sure you were involved in that too, Grant, if you are his friend.

Anyway, thank you again. Please get back to the usual discussion.

ありがとうございました

Greetings Yuko!

Sorry for a late response. Things were very busy in Sapporo and settling back in has proved just as time consuming. Anywho, your message isn’t a bother at all! Glad you wrote.

It was a real delight to see Liam in your interview. Needless to say, it was quite a surprise when I saw his name on my youtube feed. Very well made and interesting to hear his history with shamisen and everything. It helps in showing that Japanese culture is appreciated everywhere!

I’m just disappointed in Liam that he never told us about it earlier.

Actually, my brother Luke is the one who got the website and forum started, so he deserves 90%++ of the credit. Without him, none of this would be here. I just supplied the idea.

Hi Kyle,

I was so glad I received a reply from you! Thank you so much for your kind comment on my video. Grant, thank you so much for acknowledging my video also. Your comment was so nice it made my day.

Kyle, you are very honest; your brother Luke must be happy. Thank God to you and Luke. You are doing a great thing.

Thanks for your kind words as well, Yuko. Together, we all advance the shamisen and Japanese culture to future generations!

I love that interview with Liam Morgan! Would like to see more vids of Liam sometime. Of course ultimately meeting in person would be better but for now…

Yes thank you Yuko San for that interview. It’s a classic. Now I hope I can get my Jamie Low interview posted soon. Don’t worry Jamie, will edit it first!

Would be awesome to have a big meet in the UK sometime ^^

Kevin - hey I’m sure we are all gonna meet one day, we need to do that video chat thing with everyone, just need to decide on a day :p.
Working on my first cover now so hopefully I will upload it soon

Cana - We will have one! If someone offers me another gig (I have one next month but that’s too short notice), you should come down and play too!

Heck yeah! Play gigs out there guys! And if you do get around to a bachido gathering out there be sure to film it and also rememeber to have a big print out of Kyle to carry around with you so we keep it in the tradition of the Bachido gathering videos that have been created so far! Yeah!
I’m still up for visiting Sweden sometime but probably have to be next year cause I am currently saving to visit California this fall.
Liam- yeah man! We should learn some metal covers together and then when we meet in person we’ll already have some music to jam out on! Plus we’ll be carrying on the centuries old tradition of Shamisen players who learn the same metal covers while on opposite sides of the earth.
(kidding of course, I am sure this is would be histories first!)

Sweden will still be here next year Kevin, you’re welcome when you want to come

Liam I’m interested in hearing that cover, or at least your progress on it so far. Even if it isn’t Metal, I’d say we all need to play Back In Black by AC/DC when we meet up!

Kevin - Totally! What song???

Karl - Kool I will post it soon, its really simple and a work in progress but it’s fun to share lol. Back In Black…hell yeah, could have one of the players doing the drum beat with single notes alternating between maebachi and ushirobachi

Sounds very epic

Liam…
king Diamond?

Kool, I’ve not listened to him that much but I know his style lol, actually I really liked the song he did with Matt Heafy from Trivium.

I will check some others out, I’ll listen to some more Merciful Fate aswell! I saw your King Diamond cover a while back

Wow, before the singing starts, I coulda swore that was Trivium. His guitar sounds pretty unique actually.

Karl got me hooked on Trivium.
I really like their first album, Ember To Inferno, even though Matt’s vocals aren’t as developed as it is now.
Being that he’s half Japanese, I thought it’d almost be fitting to cover his songs with shamisen. :stuck_out_tongue:

True, his vocals are more developed now, in a way he does remind me of James hetfield. On the first album matts vocals are a wild shouts, really trashy, just like on kill em all etc. However they have both blew out their voices a little bit and had to develop a more controlled vocal style, it’s Kool it seems like a natural progression if they need to maintain a good clean vocal aswell.

I did play Like light to flies on the shamisen yesterday and it sounded like it would make a good cover if it could be arranged properly
