Think of getting a Shamisen

Weeeell since Cana has his Shamisen I was thinking of getting myself one at some point =D I love the sounds and would be interested to learn and play ^^

Just wondering if anyone has any starting tips etc for me~? =D Could ask Cana alone buuuuut its always nice for more infomation too ~^v^~

Buy a second hand Nagauta or Jiuta one at first. Them are cheaper than tsugaru, they sounds quite good and usually worth the price. I bought a nagauta and I like it a lot! it haves this twang and it is great for learning.

You must take care of what bachi you bought. At first wooden ones I think are very good bachis for begginers. I know that because I am an absolute rookie here, so I am at the first step in this road. Anyway surely an expert will do some better advices than me

hope it helps!

Well,if you want to play Tsugaru, then get a used jiuta, because you can freely execute hajiki on it. But be careful, some shamisen are beautiful in the outside, but they can be destróier in the inside, like, mitsuori’s tenon Is broken.

PS: Did you know that Chikuzan Takahashi used a mix of tsugaru and jiuta shamisen?

I’d actually say start with a plastic bachi over a wooden one. (Sorry Paco.) Much cheaper and much more durable, and it’s more than enough to set you on your way.

Hey folks!

Simply lol(?)

Hey! What are you doing in Florida? This is my state lol

such cats always freak me out a bit whenever I see one but I am sure this one is a very nice one

That cat looks like he has an attitude… Go ahead and go to sleep. I’ll handle everything from here. You might not have a few things when you wake up…

The cat looks scary D= I used to have a nice white fluffy cat <3 She was very friendly!

On topic: Thank you for all the info everyone!

In Ft. Lauderdale. I figured Spring Break would be cheaper if I went on an off season.

No no, actually, I’m playing with the Ronin Taiko Academy there. We just had our first show today. It was quite epic. Much video is being taken, so we’ll get a good blog out of it.

In any case, it was a little hectic, I played waaaay too fast (still rather clear and rather precise, but just no need to blaze through it)

Wow, that’s really cool! That’s actually what gave me the idea to play shamisen in the first place. I watched the taiko performers at a local Japanese festival and thought about joining their group, but then I realized that there are a lot of taiko groups in the area but no shamisen players (and shamisen just sounds so much more epic in my opinion)

wow that sounds and looks way cool looking forward to any upcoming footage . . .

Hey Jamie! Check out the 50000 yen shamisen on the Chuko Page. It would be a great way to get started.
