Unique Itomaki?

I saw a shamisen on ebay, and it had these sweet itomaki:

Has anyone seen itomaki like these before? Are they unique to a particular style?

I’ve seen them before!

I don’t think they’re specific to any one kind of shamisen, but I’m not sure if I’ve seen them outside of older hosozao/nagauta shamisen~

Yeah. This one’s definitely older, and probably hosozao/nagauta. Hmmm… I might know what my next woodworking project is!
