Using a guitar Tuner

Hello everyone!

I have just received my shamisen from Bachido store, and i started playing it during the week-end. In one of his video Kyle talk about using a tuner in order to have the proper sound for each string.
I was wondering, is a guitar tuner good enough? Or do i have to buy a shamisen one, wich is four times expensiver…

If anyone have already used a tuner, i would gladly take some advice!

Take care shamisen players!

I use a guitar tuner and it works fine! Anything that tells you what note you’re playing is good enough, I think. I think…

I use a smartphone app : Tuner Pro (the free version). It is ok.

Ok thank you for the answers! That’s what i thought but i had doubts, because some tuner says they are designed for guitar some for violin… Anyway, i’ll buy a guitar tuner then!

I use ClearTune iPhone app. I bought a chromatic tuner and it seemed as if it didn’t work very well, but ClearTune works GREAT! (It cost 4 dollars, I think …)

I have been using my guitar tuner for two years. Base guitar button gives me do-so-do sound all right, and when I tune for Okinawa tune, do-fa-do, I have to manage to get fa by ear. Now there is no problem with only the guitar tuner.

the snark is great, it bends to fit just under the curvey part of the head.

I also use a snark tuner on mine, and it works very well. The backlight burned out on it recently though, so it’s hard to see. Lasted about two and a half years, I think…
