Very angled koma

Hello fellow bachidoians.

I’ve recently been checking out Shibutani Kazou more thoroughly. I’ve noticed he usually angles his koma a bit, and depending on the strings you might have to do thisfor the intonation. But then I saw this clip and started to wonder if there is something more to it. I realize you get closer to the koma when striking the bachi in the same place, but won’t it be really troublesome to play the shamisen and not have the positions match up?

oh right hm I wonder why he does that then I mean it does look cool though . . . while I also managed to achieve this in a different way (neck bridge and koma not being even to compensate for yet another design flaw) I am not liking that and looking forward to getting rid of that on my next instrument which as it seems to turn out I am to create in the foreseeable future (may/june) . . .

Hmm interesting find Karl… Waiting for someone to explain if this is good or a bad thing
He plays Really good… :o (hadn’t seen his playing yet)

Looks like a fan-fretted guitar, except its going the wrong way. See this pic:

BH you gotta get a real shamisen! You can’t spend all your earnings on mozartballen even if you want to!

Oh you missed him Ortjo? He is really good!

Kinda looks like it Dan, although unusable due to the wrong way

one step at a time Karl I am quite sure that my next instrument will already at least be based on a real part of shamisen whoohoo . . .

and as for m balls the shipping costs are the only thing that keep me from sending out even more . . .

Haha (just stumbled upon this “one piece at a time” clip via my aviation humor subscription oh another good one below)
