drunk friendly man handing out jackets . . . okay benefit of doubt as for potential background stories
as for the homeless taking pride in giving something out in the sort of very way it seems to be mentioned here I wasn’t aware of that but that is cool for sure . . .
as for the latest weird and slightly drunk I met on taxi duty in broad daylight a couple of days ago that was not so friendly . . . I was waiting outside a hotel entrance for a customer when a passer by asked me for my cell phone and said he would sit inside the cab to make a call . . . okay first of all I am expecting a customer any second to come through the doors, second the commanding tone of his request could not make any sane person expect a generous response, third he was somewhat filthy in general and wearing a dry blood stained shirt and I was not keen on cleaning cell phone and cab for up to an hour before anyone would feel comfortable with touching either of them again and he was not injured or in any similar emergency situation otherwise I would drive a wet bleeding guy to the hospital and feel good about it but that guy seemed rather unstable and definitely filthy and in no kind of emergency I would need to care about so I offered to make a call for him and asked him for the number and what message to relay . . . well he did not like that and screamed “Nobody calls but me” followed by “I will take your cell phone away from you. I can do that.”
anyway that whole exchange was out of the blue and strange and sort of unbelievable and if you can believe that I had never been physically threatened before so this was a first I felt a little uneasy although on the other hand I felt up for the fight actually and inclined to challenge what he claimed he could do . . . a couple of seconds of staring at each other and I decided on deescalating and made it clear that I would not hand over my cell phone by shrugging and saying something to the effect of and quite literally I said about yeah well sorry . . . after some further staring at each other he turned away and walked on cursing about taxi drivers in general that we would have to take our job seriously or would always run into trouble . . .
anyway or whatever as he stopped to look back again and await my response another whatever gesture of the friendly yeah okay sort made him continue down the sidewalk and out of my sight which was fine with me . . .
