I am trying to learn to sing min’yo songs.
I am looking for min’yo lyrics in romaji.
Does anyone know anywhere on the internet that I can find min’yo lyrics in romaji?
Hello!
As for anime songs, you need to search the minyo title and add “lyrics”
It’s only my opinion
Hi Jacqueline. Sakura’s advice is good. You can also check this site : http://www3.u-toyama.ac.jp/niho/song/song_title_e.html
Thank you for the link! It’ll be helpful also for me!
Hi Jacqueline, Patrick’s link is great.
I’d also be happy to transcribe some lyrics for you if I have the kanji/kana version handy. I just need to know what you’re looking for.
Wow! So can you write and read in Japanese?

I understand some. I’ve lived in Japan a while after all.
But do you live in Nanto?
I cannot post threads anymore for unknown reasons! Nooooooooooooo!
Thanks all.
Patrick, I had con across that page, but the song were not quite what I was looking for.
I was looking for min’yo songs traditionally sung with shamisen accompaniment. The type of song that Ten Ten (Aki Takahashi) teaches in ‘The minyo Collection’ in the bachido school.
Thanks anyhow.
Hey Jaqueline.
Quite a few of those songs are often performed on Shamisen!
I’ve personally had the pleasure of doing Kuroda-bushi, Soran Bushi, and Kokiriko Bushi. Many of the other are common songs with min’yo roots.
Again, if you have specific song requests, I can probably help you. I’ve got song books.
Also, Sakura: I live in Nanto. It’s a municipality in Toyama Prefecture in Japan.
Hi Jacqueline. I only gave the link for the lyrics and not to show you how to sing these songs. Whatever is the way the song is played, the lyrics are the same (even though sometimes the way the chorus and the verses are sung could be different) !

Here is the example of Kuroda Bushi : Aki’s version and the version used on the site I gave you the link. Both use the same lyrics. Anyway each min’yo song has hundred interpretations…
By the way Christopher, do you have Ringo Bushi’s lyrics in one of your books ?
Thanks
