So far it’s only on the tuvan song. I am hoping Kyle does some more of that on other tunes but there hasn’t really been a chance so far.

a pretty wide variety of tunes and will Definately take the Shamisen into some uncharted territory. I feel totally priviledged to be working with Masahiro Nitta, one of the very best Tsugaru Shamisen players in the history of Shamisen and Kyle Abbott, our sites founder and seriously one of the most talented guys I have ever met in my life!

Oh I guess technically I have to cancel my first statement cause I realized one of the tunes actually is more or less metal. It’s just that the blast beats have been replaced by rapid bachi fire and the power crunch guitar chords have been translated into Shamisen power chords.

“Rapid Bachi Fire”…ha I love it! I’m definately going to do a metal cover soon…I hope :). Sounds like you guys are having alot of fun making it too, which is always great as a listener because you know the songs were made and recorded with passion, rather than just for the sake of making an album.

The recording sessions have wrapped up for now. Masahiro Nitta and I just dropped Kyle off at the Sapporo air terminal and he is officially on his way back to Santa Cruz, California.
Just have a few overdubs to throw in but will most likely do those tomorrow.
All in all the recording sessions went quite well. Much better than any one of us expected. Kyle took tons of video footage so I imagine
He has his work cut out for him when he gets back in terms of video editing.
Tons of stuff coming up. Also some live footage of us performing in Saporro.
I’m really proud of Kyle. Working with him in the studio has been one of the most productive times in addition to being hilariously fun and spontaneous! Of course Masahiro Nitta is on top of his game as always and truly adds his brilliance to this CD.
Grant, just finished all my tracks on THE RETURN. I hope this tune will pave the way for Shmetal of the future. Masahiro will add his bombastic Ichi no Ito and then it will be totally finished!
I still have one more day up here but mostly I am just hoping I will see a new lady friend I just met during my past week here. At least one more time before I leave, hopefully. Everyone, send your prayers that she shows up at Masahiro’s favorite bar either tonight or tomorrow night! (I only have two more nights in Sapporo).
