i hope that the kouki koma isn’t expensive
Actually, I had tried three Itomaki hexagons as well, but one itomaki in the middle seemed more… symbolic than three. Also tried the triangle, but wasn’t so hot about it. :-S. I could try it again though. >
There’s a nice irony to having three bachis but only one itomaki. Don’t know how it plays in Japan but I like irony…just because. Plus, it sorta implies “many hands, one voice” or sum’n.
And that koma…droooool.
Oh, BTW, fun video and really nice theme song.
Thanks everyone! I am glad that BH has expressed approval! Cool! I had been meaning to come up with the Austrian Taxi Driver tune for a while! Glad you liked it! I think it can be a bit longer obviously so perhaps there will be a follow up post to this sometime in the future featuring a fuller version.
Anyway thanks again !
I like the taxi driver’s song!!
Mosquito attack bothered me so much and could not concentrate on listening to the song up until now. Do I hate so much those flies.
Wait for a fuller version somewhere without flies.
Ah… But Kyoko San, those Draculas were worth it because they gave us the bachi statue and mon! Strange to find those things after walking in the woods, no?
So, Kevin san, Draculas sometimes do good and take a bloody reward from us!
BTW, my brother has been a taxi driver for decades and told us a lot of interesting stories similar to BH. The song has the melancholy of fitting to the taxi driving job. It really reminds me of my brother’s story telling. The job is something like condensed life of common people.
Kyoko, is it common for Japanese taxi drivers to talk with the customers? Like asking about ordinary stuff and just being social. Or is it more like everyone is quiet and waiting for the ride to be over?
Thank you for giving me an opportunity to talk about it, Karl!
Japanese taxi drivers are usually ready to talk with the passenger about anything, but if you want to be silent while taxi ride, you can keep silent or even to sleep.
There once were I have heard of, singing taxi drivers or fun story tellers or somewhat entertaining taxies. I have never met one, though…
My brother was, funny guy, preaching kind, imposingly talk about life and preaching about how your life be(>_
Once an upset woman got into my brother’s taxi and said
“Please go anywhere you can drive.” She looked as if she had a terrible fight against her husband and just wanted to go far away.
My bro asked,
"Shall I drive you to somewhere we human being finally go? (meaning graveyard)
She declined politely. “No, driver!”
oh thanks for the story Kyoko I did not dare to suggest the graveyard to any destination wise open minded customer so far and what a cool simple and polite response indeed
okay I did not dare to jump in on this when already I think Cana was actually asking for this but after Kyoko did the same and others also expressed a liking for the tune so yes of course I would also be happy about a longer version or any audio version I can play in the car for sure . . . “expressed approval” definitely haha even though I am really already happy about the video above as it is . . .
BH and everyone who has been following this topic…
OK! I got inspired to add some more compositionally to this tune.
I will begin work tonight on a longer version and with some luck will finish it up and have an addition to this thread within the next 24 hours!
I had an interesting thought , if BH is allowed to play audio in his Taxi ? I mean how cool would it be to tell passengers that you are one of the few Taxi drivers who actually has a theme song!
Converting video to mp3 is easy now a days yes?
So… If you like the result then go for it!
OOps…Oh Wow! My Brain just got hit with the idea to add some kind of slide effect into the melody to represent the turning of the steering wheel and tires etc. sorry…I am simply adding it here now so I don’t forget this idea later ( I am actually at work at the moment).
Sorry to use bachido space as a personal post it reminder!
We should add some catchy throat singing by Kyle going: “He’s the AUSTRIAN TAXI DRIVEEEEEER”
haha awesome story, thanks kev enjoyed our little coffee break ^^ having another one now hopefully u can join me soon ^.^
slide on shamisen is lovely
when i’m just messing about on the shamisen i’m always leaning into a bluesy song with lots of slide and pulloffs
would like more music to practice while i have no money for kyles book though xD <3
Just wanted to share a cool coffee related link I got today
OMG KARL! can i have one? christmas is just around the corner D:!
pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaasssse <3
OMG! A great taxi driver song, some scary bachido mons in the aomori forests and a crazy textable coffee machine!!!
So much bachido… you can’t find it anywhere else.
good tune! I like it, want to see it complete
Mon and bachis everywhere!! that´s always a good thing
Hey BH… Sorry about the bad sound quality. But well I managed to write some more parts to the AUTRIAN TAXI DRIVER tune. Let me know how you like it!
As it turns out Norm and Jamie Low are sort of co writers of this tune as I threw in a reference to the bachido Tokyo gathering 2012 jam that the three of us came up with.
Speaking of Norm, I had to give a little shout out to him at the very end as I realized I was sitting next to a broken skin Shamisen. Don’t want anyone feeling too lonely in the department of broken kawa.
It happens to all of us sooner or later…
But well I’ll stop rambling and . . . Let’s get back into the Cab!
at 2:05 a mosquito is ready to attack again !!! Awesome song Kevin , well done !
