Haha, thanks Florian! Yup those Mosquitos really like this tune I guess. Hopefully BH agrees with those little blood suckers!
We should add some catchy throat singing by Kyle going: “He’s the AUSTRIAN TAXI DRIVEEEEEER”
. . . what the . . . this is getting out of hand already this video got a BACKING TRACK I mean what’s next? . . . a choir of bikini girls maybe I did not mention them yet as valued occasional customers . . .
although today was a rather continuous progression of “high” society all harmless though a night driver inquired what? already during the day? so yeah I will stick to the day shifts even though I hate getting up in the morning until I sip on a first cup of coffee that is and usually these days this is at the “arthouse” taxi stand
I should lobby (again) for another japanese arts week something like that I was told I missed a couple of years ago . . .
so the tune . . . awesome and I like all the parts . . . what I missed was the straight ichi no ito slamming intro of the original clip I am a big fan of all ichi no ito slamming or bass progressions as later in the clip and alternations of ichi and higher hajikis and stuff if that makes sense . . . also the sliding / (steering) wheel(s) idea awesome . . . so yeah I mean you are making it hard not to hope for another clip someday I would love to hear the whole thing also shamisen only although the backing track gave it a kick too . . .
and sure good sound quality would make an even better mp3 the conversion is no problem at all with any of the free tools available . . .
so yeah I come home and you like posted this video an hour earlier well this will make it even easier to “get back into the cab” tomorrow . . . a theme song and a song about taxi driving in general what an honor thank you I should add a “shamisen cab” and "theme by Kevin Kmetz, . . . " sticker next to the “first aid kit is under the seat” one . . .
Love the song Kevin. It would be awesome if the stuff you synthesized was played with multiple shamisens instead. Definately a keeper!
Cool everyone! Thanks for the comments. Yes I also would love to arr. this so it’s all done with multiple Shamisen players. Unfortunately Shmoolik had left already so I resorted to whipping up a quick little synth and drum combo on garage band. Pay no attention to the drum beat though please…I did it with my fingers and I am not the best finger drummer so. . .
BH, thanks again for providing the inspiration !
Man I’m gonna start learning this song now. It’s rockin
We should see if we can find someone who plays shakuhachi or other flute that want to learn the song.
This is great! Nice one!
It really sounds like a theme tune for everyone’s favourite prime time show, Austrian Taxi Driver
oh oh shakuhachi and shamisen I have to say I would like that too . . .
and I think the tune is good enough so further arrangements and recordings would be worth the effort as in not just for my sake . . .
anyway I would love a shamisen only good sound quality recording of this even if it’s a solo shamisen version so I would have a good sound quality mp3 for the car so whenever possible at whatever time that would be (once again) awesome . . .
as for sending you a little postal thank you soon it would be easier if our company had any swag like shirts or whatever but I’ll figure out something
as for the driving I had friendly customers from the US and A who were somewhat affiliated with the Schwarzenegger in town extravaganza although with car and driver not on the list the ride stopped short at the first security border around a location where Arnie was expected to arrive an hour later or so . . .
So Kevin I was playing your song today, well up until you started your improvising on which I improvised on my own, but one thing that was hard to see and hear was the chords you play when you have your fingers stretched. Was it ni-no-ito at position 2 and san-no ito at position 4 or was ichi-no-ito involved as well?
Also I’m sure I could pick out the sliding part where you go up and down but please do share how to play it because it would take some time for me to get it right
Just wanted to share a cool coffee related link I got today
Gllllaaaaaahhhhhhhhh… picks jaw up from floor Oh man, if that isn’t the best commercial for a tech company, I don’t know what is!
So much bachido… you can’t find it anywhere else.
Ain’t it, Anne? The two hallmarks of Bachido!. . besides shamisen, of course.
Speaking of Norm, I had to give a little shout out to him at the very end as I realized I was sitting next to a broken skin Shamisen.
Kevin:
What a catchy tune!! And yay for the spinner!!
This gives me a super-duper idea, which I’ll make a new thread for.
I believe I’d be able to get Papa to record the shakuhachi part. He always laments how he has “no talent”, but we both played shakuhachi yesterday and I was humbled by how much better his tone was from mine. (Playing for 40 years will do that)
Anywho, yes. Shakuhachi player in da house!
We should add some catchy throat singing by Kyle going: “He’s the AUSTRIAN TAXI DRIVEEEEEER”
YES!!! I WILL do that Karl! (we can always remove it later)
Kevin, do you have Reaper? (a free mixing program, which Luke and I’ve been using to mix CDs) If you record tracks into that, it would make it very easy for me to take the files and fill in my parts.
I mean what’s next? … a choir of bikini girls
Excellent idea, BH!!! You’ve got your finger on the pulse! (as they say) Okay, who’s in charge of finding babes?
I think two official phrases have been solidified in the Bachido vocabulary
Bro / Brah
You know what I’m sayin’
Karl,
Yes that’s exactly right. And yes I do add Ichi no Ito so that chord is Ichi +ni no Ito 2 and San no Ito 4. Don’t worry about the slide, a video has been made that explains it so break out the anticipation pants as you and Norm so often say…
Liam, Thank you!
Kyle,
No how do I get Reaper? (of course by asking I’m basically just admitting I’m too lazy to google it myself but ya know, sometimes we want info to comes from our homies and not some baby word for a large number…ya know what I’m sayin?)
Ok Karl you can take those pant off now…
Well folks yet another version of BH 's Taxi song. Since you guys wanted to hear it without the silly garage band accompaniment I whipped up…
http://www.reaper.fm/
Reaper: the very first link when googling it.
Bravo!!! What a catchy number!
Throat singing - “He’s B~H!~ The great austrian taxi driver / B~H!~ He is also a boss shamisener/ B~H!~ …” Okay, that’s all I got so far.
Alright, briefly taking my pants off. I might have to put them on again soon though because I don’t know if my shamisen will appreciate the skin contact. I don’t want to ruin my chances too early and end up with a strikeout, if you know what I mean.
Awesome to see that you guys are still at it man! I thought it was just another unreleased clip first!
Alright, time to practice some of that taxi driver song.
Haha! Good lord Karl, big breast concerns and now pantless Shamisen playing?? Just what is going on out there in Sweden??
Oh by the way… I just remembered a reason for you to put the pants back on. It is your video on stealth koma. That got me thinking about all the different ways to generate the mute effect and finally I uncovered some secrets that I will share here soon…
Oh shoot!
P.s.
Thanks Kyle!
Epic! I’m playing the song RIGHT now AND playing the taxi song at the same time. That’s right, I have a third hand going on, but I’m not sharing where it is! You never know what’s going on here. I think this place might be Twin Peaks’ twin.
I forgot to say thanks for the illustration of the slide Looking forward to the secrets. Does it involve a dampening mat made out of yours and Shmoolik’s long hair?
Wish I could just record stuff without the stealth koma like you guys but damn I put on the zouge koma last evening when a friend was over and seriously I could barely touch the string with the bachi without thinking that the neighbours would lynch me.
And Shmoolik, don’t you DARE underrestimate the importance of the millisecond!
shaka brahs oh and maybe (since Karl did not overlook that topic) I should mention at this point that BH (spoken “beh hah”) are not only my cool initials but also the the german expression for bra without an h . . .
This is great! Nice one! It really sounds like a theme tune for everyone’s favourite prime time show, Austrian Taxi Driver
I don’t think prime time but I think of something
as for the tune and ongoing developments it may make sense to just say in short that I feel something of a flowing and nice and beyond words state of mind when I think of it now . . .
anyway I will be out of town and back on sunday so cheers and have good weekend everyone . . .
I tried coming up with some epic lyrics, but it came out bad. So to just show that I made an effort:
BH will go far, with his car.
Thank you.
Karl,
Hahahahahaha! That’s why you are THEE Karl!
BH,
Have fun this weekend. By the time you get back there will surely be a full orchestra version of your song posted here! (not really though…orchestras are so expensive to rent) But anyway Rock on everyone!
BH will go far, with his car.
Karl,
Yes! Great contribution! Definitely that will be incorporated into the lyrics!
Thanks Kyle!
You got it braaaaaaahhhhh!
