Hirosaki Taikai 2013 - Sign ups!

Ladies and bros! Masahiro wrote in regards to Hirosaki 2013 - Bachido Attack! (if I may borrow a verb from Kevin. ;-)) He volunteered to arrange registration 'n stuff.

多分登録は2月ぐらいじゃないかな

Signups are probably around February.

出演するメンバーの名前と年齢が2月ぐらいに分かれば登録しますよ!

If I know the names and ages of members to will compete by February, I can register!

あとグループで出場するならグループ名を入れなきゃね!
チーム BachidoとかBachidoMonstersとか

Also, if it’s a group competition, we need a group name!
For example, Team Bachido, BachidoMonsters

なにか考えますか。。

Think of something?

Alright everyone! Special assignment! Those who will rise up for the very first international team to travel to Hirosaki, let us know your name, age and suggestion for a team name! (you can PM, if you prefer)

And again, no worries if you can’t afford it this year. As I’ve said before, we’ll most likely be having an official Bachido Festival in Hokkaido, so of the two events, make sure you can attend hat one.

Alright, I’ll get the ball rolling.

Kyle Abbott - age 23!

I’ll be going if everyone else is going. Free pie!

Next up!

Whaaaaaat?? You’re only 23? No waaaaay…

Oh come on, Jamie! Are you gonna join or not? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Jamie - you didn’t know Kyle was just a pup?

Kyle already knows this, but for the record: Sorry, I can’t make the taikai work into my 2013 Japan schedule. I will be looking forward to attending the 2014 Hokkaido gig, though!

Oh, I’m sure Jamie knows. If he didn’t know, then it’s true that nobody likes violas.

Awwww… :frowning: That’s true. Unfortunately it conflicts with your Koto circuit. Kudos for ending on a high note though! We’ll see you at the 2014 Bachido Festival in Hokkaido!!

If my calculations were correct, there are at least 10 people (including Kevin, myself and Grant) wanting to join in the team.
Masahiro is very stoked about it, and is ready to find a hotel for everyone and make plans. Thus, if you want to attend, please don’t delay in telling me, folks!

Grant Reimer - Age 24

Team name…?
Hmmm. I always liked “Monsters of Shamisen”, but it’s definitely better to represent the fact we are from Bachido.
So “Team Bachido” isn’t bad, although I think we can go one step further into awesomeness.

I really want to be a part of this historic meet up. Can someone kindly point me in the direction of information regarding prices/deadlines/etc…? Work makes taking time off tough but with enough planning anything is possible right??!

Josh,
The taikai usually coincides with “Golden week”.
Lots of Japanese want to take time off work during that time so
Planning ahead is especially crucial in this case !
Hope you can make it out !
That will be cool!

I´m all in!!!

Anne Liljedahl. Age 32 (byt then).

And for group name I suggest: Bachidaemons

PS. I’ve started to look up a route and places to stay for a road trip to Hirosaki. More info in a week or two. DS.

Thanks Kevin! Golden Week ought to work for me, I should have time off myself. Just a matter of planning/practicing haha.
Any hints as to what the sign-up fee is?

I’m in too!

Patrick Deaton–23
パトリック・ディートン

I agree that a Bachido specific team name would be nice.

Fawwwk so awesome…

I have to think about it  i’m not THAT good of a player to go to taikai or anything  Though we would be playing like rokudan or Kuroishi yosare or something like that as a team? easy things :stuck_out_tongue: that i could handle. It would really be awesome to show them how big bachido has become!

And we would be training before the thing right?
And hang around just casual like. Play shamisen and stuff?

and how about all the financial stuff? ofc flights we pay for ourselves but how about in japan hotels food etc? I’m ready to pay for all of it but just thinking

And for the team name i Insist that it is something really close to just Bachido. Like the bachido team. So that they will absolutely know that we are from bachido. ( bachidoes bachidoers lol) Yeah i like the Team Bachido.

And yes i want deadlines and stuff so i know when i have to make real decisions…

Oh yeah and how long of a trip are we talking here?

Ortjo and Josh:

Here’s a rough estimate of costs:

Plane Ticket: $800-1100

Lodging: $700

Transport: $400-500

Food: $150-200

Registration: $80

Misc: $100-300

So around $3000 USD if you are not careful with your money.
I’ve made it for 3 weeks on less than that in the past.

This is also largely dependent on how long you stay. 10 days is quite a bit different than 2 - 3 weeks.

So, about the name… Would keeping it simple, like Bachido-kai / 撥道会, be, um, too simple?

Oh shiet…
If it’s around 2300€ There’s no way in hell i can make this trip :frowning:
shame really. Maybe after 30 years i get to see you guys. -.-

edit:
So i’ll wait until Grant comes to Sweden again and that will be a trip i can make. Waiting forward to it

Actually Linda, that exact same name occurred to me as well! I don’t think it’s bad at all, and it’s quite elegant in my opinion.

Ortjo, it is really hard to save that much money, especially in only a matter of months. I’m always planning ahead for the trip each year, and usually have just about enough.
Keep saving and try and make it to the 2014 gathering that Kyle mentioned!

I’ll surely be back in Sweden at least once before then, and you and I will be making plans to meet for certain.

Yea it’s hard to get that much money when you are in civil service and only real work is on weekends at a pub  + intending to continue as a student

Okay i do have the money but if i use it on this trip i will be eating my toenails or something for food and can’t pay for rent

But good news Grant! We will see in sweden then ^^ Just remember to tell us when you are going/coming.

Maybe I can get an estimate from Masahiro on how much he thinks each person will need. He may be able to make some deals happen… or something. Sans the plane ticket, I think you should be able to make a week with $1000. Granted, money burns fast, but it can happen.
