Oh, my ,cool and misterious sound and fantastic stable tremolo!! Aki san, get going!!!
That’s really very cool Aki! I love the counterpoint of two parts! And great tremello ! Awsome!
Dear Bachi Gangs;
I wrote Bachi March.
Playing this marching song makes me smile. Hope I come up with a nice melody. Wish me luck.
cool funny tune . . .
Sounds awesome dude, loved the tremolo style video aswell!
Nice song, Aki! Very pleasing to listen to, and the metronome beat adds a quirky yet fitting sound to it!
I’m about to render my improv from last week. Will post it soon!
Boom! Interestingly, I was “rehearsing” to play a different improvised melody before turning on the camera, but once I started the camera, I just instantly started playing something completely different! So, this is truly improv.
That was really pretty, it reminded me of “Time of Sand” by the Yoshida Brothers
How sweet… I love your sound, Kyle.
OK, I’ll let you know about the progress of my Bachi March. It’s inspired by the “Rajio Taiso” song. Today I made my own Bachi Exercise Song, yahoo!
Thank’s for all the inspiration Aki!
And sweet improv Kyle!
I’m not at your level yet, but here’s a little contribution:
I’ll keep my practice up!!!
What a lovely melody, Aki! I really like it! And yes, it’s certainly a great exercise for repeated strikes.
Ya~ay!
Anne!!! That was super nice! I just realized that I haven’t really heard you play anything other than Kita no Hibiki (for good reason, as that was why we were at the taikai! ) or Ninjari Ban Ban! It’s great to see you just going free. You sound so natural and your bachi technique has improved so much! I remember when you were first playing - your bachi technique was ぴったり, but sacrificing fluidity for being exact. You seem to have broken through that! Perhaps being forced to play faster at the taikai has loosened your hand up.
Kudos for contributing! Love to see more!
Karl??
Oh man, I have been keeping up with this while at work, but had no time to comment.
Aki; your jams are AMAZING! Thank you for starting this thread. It’s inspiring and awesome.
Anne, your contribution is inspiring as well. Makes me feel like I should be submitting something myself. As soon as I remember to turn on a camera when I’m playing, I’ll have something to contribute. It’s wonderful to see you play~!
Adrian! Oh Really? Hmmmm. I think perhaps you already do have something to contribute buddy! Have you forgotten the famous jam session and it’s Amazing title???
Dear all shamisen pals;
Thank you so much for all the videos and comments.
I am so happy to share my shami adventure with you.
Guess what, I will visit San Fransico - Sacramento - Santa Cruz next month. Finally I’m going to see Kyle on July 8-9 (tentatively).
Please let me know if you’re in the area.
It would be great to meet shami friends in person and continue my shamisen jam (live) in California. Very exciting.
Today I wrote a piece called: Romance de Shamisen.
Happy Shami Day, everyone!
Ooh! This puts me in a mood to play some Baroque on shamisen today! Hopefully I can record it!
That sounds very nice, Aki! Once again, the melody fits very well the tone of the shamisen!
It’ll be very exciting to finally meet you! It will be blogworthy!
sounds great!
Though hit with a cold today today, this thread has inspired me to try out a few John Dowland pieces, songs that had moved me to learn Countertenor.
Though not quite hittin’ the chords right, managed to pull out the rough melodies to The Lowest Trees Have Tops and Come Again!
Finally, wrapping up with a Tsugaru standard, Aiya Bushi!
Kyle, love the Dowland stuff - maybe your next CD could be a renaissance shamisen cover!
maybe your next CD could be a renaissance shamisen cover!
Maybe? You think that Kyle didn’t have an excuse to whip out some countertenor when producing Stellar? Just you wait, my dear!
Really liked the romance tune Aki! Love the style.
Kyle that aiya bushi was spot on mate, I have much to learn from it.
