Marking my shamisen

After all the fuss in my mind over starting without markings on my shamisen, trying to make it difficult for myself.

I ended up marking my shamisen, for the ease of reading tab… and to stop playing notes which shouldnt exist XD

I marked my shamisen with ash, this is a rough version as i just did it… but it works nice and the ash lines stop right where my thumb always is so it wont rub off, I do need help marking more positions though.

I always just used little stickers on the sao to mark my places.
I originally started with the strip of numbers, but eventually cut parts of it off until I only had 4, 6, and 10.

I use tiny dots of acrylic paint and put it on using a toothpick. If you use colours like fluorescent yellow, hot pink, etc., you can see the marks even without looking directly at them. And since I make the mark into an actual raised dot, you can also physically feel the marks with your thumb as you get near them. And the final “bonus” is that, once you don’t need certain marks anymore, you can just flip them off the sao with your fingernail, and the acrylic paint doesn’t leave any marks.
