Yatta!!!
I’m proud to have observed the making of this video between a guitar and a pipa from the comfort of Kevin’s couch! If only you knew what he was really reading on the music stand!
Okay, all kidding aside (not that the previous statement wasn’t true), thank you Kevin for completing this. Very useful to hear it along with the recording!
My suggestion to everyone using the simplified version: Be VERY conscious to stop playing at 3:13. The 4300 phrase must intently drop out immediately when the lead part does the 1616161616 phrase. If anyone plays an extra 4300 past the 161616, it will really stick out and seem like we’re unprepared.
I mean, if an extra 4300 occurs in the madness of the moment, it’s nothing to be ashamed of. But know that it’s a major noticable point, so when you practice, do your best to stop right on time.
In other related news, bought my ticket today! See you all in Yoyogi Kouen/Misawa/Hirosaki!
Really great instruction Kevin, and I can’t wait to hear the whole ensemble because you guys have really made the two different versions play nicely together!
You should be joining us Karl! Darn it! Hey…don’t forget to write something and post that too! You know, in the composers thread that you started a million years ago! Waiting in anticipation!!!
Kevin/Kyle, altho I can’t make it to this year’s Taikai, can I get a copy of this simplified version? (no promises, but I’ll try to work it up, along with Kyle’s Tsugaru Jinku version (different than the one I learned) and the (in)famous Kuroishi Yosare bushi, to give me something in common with the Bachido people at Norm’s meet-up in Tokyo…)
It’s a little sad. I actually knew how to play Kita no Hibiki. Too bad I can’t make it !
Thanks for this video. Lots of points that i’d been wondering about
