Selling Akatsuki Tsugaru Shamisen

Hello everyone,

I have an Akatsuki Tsugaru Shamisen (Details Listed After Photos) that I have decided I want to sell. In terms of use, it has only been lightly strummed to learn for a few moments for 4 or so sessions. I am selling it because my skin is highly allergic to something on it that makes it impossible for me to play. You can probably find my old posts about it. It makes me so sad to let it go as it is one heck of a Shamisen. My only observation is that it could use some polishing. I wanted to see if anyone here would be interested in it or able to make some kind of offer. Currently only looking here within the Community.

Hello @adoring.artist

That is the Urushi lacquer, and yes, some people are alergic to it.
You can have the urushi removed, and have it refinished with camelia oil.
Please reach out to Bachido to see about the re-finishing job.

I had my eye on this one because it is beautiful but quite costly. How much would you be looking to get for this? If you could part with it for around 2kish I’d be very interested. I just read your earlier posts about the allergic reaction. I am very sorry to hear that, I dealt with poison ivy this past summer and I know that kind of rash can be dreadful. I hope you are doing better now.

It really did suck to not be able to play it. I don’t even think it was the urushi, but possibly the oils from one of the wood types used.

I am just looking for a fair offer. I think 2k seems fair. I would just need to figure out the shipping side of things.

If you live somewhat local to Michigan I would be open to picking it up. But if your alright with 2k I’d be happy to cover shipping too. Again really sad to hear about the skin reaction, I know how horrible that type of thing can be. Especially not being able to enjoy that beautiful instrument.

Let me know what’s easier for you. If you want to email
Me directly you can reach me at brettpeterson4@gmail.com
Thanks, Brett

Apologies for the delay, I will email you shortly!
