I have a shamisen and was set to begin lessons in 2012. However, I am moving to AK and need to sell it. It’s in like-new condition except for the skin needs to be re-glued. Comes with case, auto tuner, etc. If interested, please let me know. Or if you know where I can sell something like a shamisen. I’m afraid the local Craigslist market doesn’t offer many buyers for such an instrument as unique as this. Thanks!
Not interested in buying but this will propably help if someone is thinking of buying: What type of shamisen are you talking about? Tsugaru or Nagauta or…?
and just interested… why don’t you take it with you? and glue the skin back together in AK?
same question mentioned by Ortjo, but on this case, i might be interested on getting the shamisen for a friend, it would be excellent if its a Jiuta shamisen
Forgive my ignorance- is this a Tsugaru? Here’s a link to pics. https://picasaweb.google.com/108092888489245004724/MovingSale#5679405426680923954
I do looks like a Jiuta Shamisen, oh well, what would be the requested price for the showed shamisen?
Actually, by this pic (https://picasaweb.google.com/108092888489245004724/MovingSale#5679405433527558290) I’m inclined to think it’s a tsugaru. The overhang of skin on jiuta shamisen is 10mm at the most, I think. The overhang of skin for a Tsugaru shamisen is 25mm or more.
Hi all, I’m asking just $700 (buyer pays shipping/insurance). Thanks!
Agreeing with Kyle that, by the skin overhang, it looks like a Tsugaru (or possibly min’you? (rarely seen outside Japan…)), 'cause that’s way too much skin for jiuta. Itomaki look like jiuta size, but then the bachi and koma are definitely not jiuta (bachi could be nagauta, pic angle not good/close enough to tell). Also can’t see the sheet music in the background very well, but it may be jiuta style because it looks to be in vertical columns (rather than horizontal as per nagauta/Tsugaru). Mutant shamisen???
oh, i stand corrected, as Linda says, my toughts were more pointed into beleive it is jiuta style for the string order and the Itomaki, still, looks like a good shamisen to start with, so i ask, if possible, a few days more for my friends answer to see if we got your deal done
great- can ship in time for Xmas/ New Years
By the way, does anyone know of a good place to buy a used Koto?
Masahiro’s friend sells koto. Do you want me to see if he can find a used one?
Decent used koto come up less frequently than used shamisen… But try the Kotoworld group on Yahoo. Members are from various countries around the world, and a used instrument seems to come up a few times a year. Search the files to see if there are any that might still be available. And If you join the group, you can post to say you’re looking for one and see what happens. http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/kotoworld
What part of the Ak are you moving to?
