No. The aforementioned sangen is my spare one. Still nice but not the concert grade sangen I’m currently using. I will be taking up koto along with the sangen as soon as I acquire a koto that my master approves. Will study both concurrently. Looking forward to it.
This gives me another opportunity to tout the quality of the instrument for sale. Skin is less than one year old. The shamisen was acquired from the Koto Academy in Boston. This is a good quality instrument for the same price junk is selling for on eBay.

Hey Gary, glad to hear you’re not selling that beautiful concert one - it’s too good to let go of even if you decide some day to never play play shamisen again…
I’m looking forward to you starting koto, too. I think you’ll find a few things about it much easier than shamisen (for instance, there’s no need to “find” any notes, you just hit the right string and there you are! 
). And you may find studying the two instruments together to be beneficial, since there is a lot of repertoire shared between them.
Are you going to start a separate blog for the koto? Or will you combine your study of the two instruments into your jiuta.blogspot.com site?
Not sure as of yet if I will start a koto blog or do it dually style. Still on Wakamizu which I will play to accompany my master’s koto for a small New Year get together this weekend. Love the song but hope to move on after that. Still haven’t mastered it yet but I guess I am close.
