The nuSwag Design Challenge 2013!

I get the feeling that tucking a computer into the dou would change the sound just bit. Might be better to just have a jack that you plug the RPi into. I do feel that’s a bit over kill though; an entire computer just to process one small-scale action. Regardless; interesting idea.

the things we can do with it are only as limited as our imagination!!! (and maybe the size of the shamisen  )

That being said, having the processes set up outside of the dou would make it a lot less trouble, since there is little room when both sides are skinned. It would also be nice to have it outside for additional tinkering. When is bachido gonna start development of Shamisen-centric effect pedals?

A note for the shaded Fuji-bachi design: prints with shading don’t always come out super easy. The solid, non-shaded, pop-art style Fuji-bachi version would work perfect, in spite of it’s “simplicity” (and I totally love it~)

Working hard on some ideas; hopefully post something soon.
Great work, everyone~!

Alright, I suppose it’s time I got some of these up on here.

D: I shall begin working on adware and malware for shamisen now… Its genius!

are we setting up a vote/facebook poll?

still siding 100% with this one

Since I may have a re-skin in the near future I think I might be able to “accidently” pop a set of those lights in there and give it a try. Add a set of LED itomaki and bachi and you got yourself a shamisen worthy of a rock concert.

Oh man, totally do it man! Don’t even make it an accident. I may be inclined to do the same thing myself if it turns out well!

Adrian: Baws work on the inked kanji! That totally must be used. And considering that Nitta san’s doukake just says '津軽三味線", I think even a doukake with striking 撥道 kanji like that would be very classy. (even more conbined with dragon scales or something. :stuck_out_tongue: )

are we setting up a vote/facebook poll?

That’s a good question. I hadn’t really thought about that. A Facebook poll sounds like a good idea though, let’s go with that!

YES YES YES! Bachido-kanji dou-kake! I’m all over that, dude bro.

Oh Hell Yeah! I am so having that on my Dou-Kake!

I really dig the Kanji design Adrian.
The other two are nice as well; especially the Shami-Demon.
Guys, now don’t come up with a ‘glowing Kanji’-Doukake…naaa, just kidding =)

@Adrian Yeah, thought about the shading in combination with textile-printing. but with nowadays printing-technology it should’nt be an issue anymore, should it?
Of course an embroidered version would be pretty and long lasting.

for members of our new facebook group(!) i just added a poll with all of the options you guys posted on here. its a bit convoluted (see the actual post) but hopefully people use it

edit: new link to new poll

Thanks for setting up that poll man! It seems there’s already one being particularly settled on.

Got another one for ya’ll. Not sure how I feel about the smoke; probably gonna tweak it a bit and play with it some more.

OK! Played with the smoke a little, and added some detail to the Shamisen (neo/koma). Knew they looked funny for some reason…

awesome I thought this would be a great album cover artwork but I guess I would also wear it on a shirt

@B H: Kyle said the same thing, but I felt I’d throw it up here anyhow.

Gaaahhh…
That is totally gonna be the cover for the shamisen metal album!

Or a leather jacket. Adrian, didn’t you tell me that you had a friend who knew a thing or two about putting designs on leather?

Add a background of Mount Fuji, an eerie moon lighting up the surroundings and some fog, and adjust the shamisens and face to fit with the colors and the cover is done.

I agree with Karl H.
Really nice work Adrian!
And I mean…Niiiiiiiiiice!

Darnit, I missed this challenge. I had a girly-rock-n-roll geisha in mind. I like the RED one! We need some girly input in here! Don’t forget there are girls (in my case, women) that play, too!

Wuaa, Adrian, I like the 2 shamisen Demon design!!
And don’t forget some lightnings on the cover (soo 80ies)!
Lorraine, I had another design in mind while doing the Fujibachi, which could be of your taste in terms of girliness:

cheers
Ale
