Received my Shamisen last night!!

Hello everyone, I just received my Shamisen, and I am so very excited. It’s better than christmas morning! The snow is packing in here, so I will have tons of time to practise as the rocky mountains close in around me. As a super huge thank you to Kyle, I wanted to post a short video of me playing Kuroishi Yosare Bushi. Your passion for Coffee and Music are very inspiring to me! So without further ado, I present you my first ever online performance. [please excuse my playing, as I’ve only had a shamisen for a matter of hours.]

CONGRATS!
mine also arrived today but i can’t play like you!
nice one

a matter of hours? okay then your playing is excused

sounds cool! as for the instrument is that a bachido shamisen?

Thank you for the kind words! Amanda, You just received your 3rd Shamisen? What a great feeling!!!

BH, thanks, yes it is a Bachido Shamisen [assuming that means I received it from Bachido,] Now just waiting on Kyle’s book, hopefully it will come soon and I can keep learning!

トラビスさん、よく出来ましたね!
Kyle, if Travis can play like this after just a few hours, I imagine you’ll start trying to recruit him for the Taikai by, oh, about 7p tonight…?! {lol}

Oh, Travis, I just noticed you’re from Canada - yay, another one! (That makes about, what - 8 of us in total??)

Haha, thank you Linda, you are too kind! I definitely feel like a rare breed as a Shamisen player in Canada, but I hope if I get better, I can inspire more people to pick it up. I don’t have anyone to play with for now, but It seems a trip to Santa Cruz is in order.

For now, I just have to get used to hearing “What’s a shamisen, eh?” (I kid, I kid.)

もうめっちゃできてるやん!

Keep it up, man!

Have you never played shamisen before? Cuz that’s good progress for a few hours. Seriously.

And that instrument sounds awesome! Is that kouki?

Jamie, thank you man! I am currently using your warm up method to try to tackle 4-3-0-0s, so you are also an inspiration to me!

Chet, no, this is my first ever experience with a Shamisen. I also refuse to mark my sao with position markers, as I feel that it is both counter-intuitive, and against the spirit of experimental learning. I don’t want to rely on my eyes [much like the Goze.]
The Shamisen is not Kouki, as far as I know; I believe it is Karin. However she feels so good, and sounds SO nice, so I couldn’t be Happier. Again, a million thank yous to Kyle and Masahiro! I am one VERY happy Canadian, hahahaha!

Travis that sounded great for a couple of hours of practice!

Ride the wave of inspiration you got!

Great sound!
