First Shirt Design (with Bachido Mon!)

Still too orange. I think the ring should be white. Apart from that, I think that it looks pretty sweet with the gradient transition!

I like the orange…but maybe the ring should be white.

Cool beans! I do think the grey circle makes everything else pop out a bit more, but I’ll try a white circle now.

Karl + Neil: Alright, let’s go for a compromise and make it blood orange.

Just a sec

Linda: Cool beans! So, the front as a half mon, and the back as a full mon, with only kanji (no english text)?

Sounds good to me.

Agree on all points.

[Kyle] Okay, we’ll keep it simple for now and just have B/W, later on we can fiddle with colors

Sounds smart. And remember, with just B&W, you can always change the tee shirt colours, probably for much less cost than 2+ colour ink printing…

I just remembered that more colors costs more money!

From the response on this forum, that shouldn’t be a problem, since many of your members are already practically begging you to take their money for this shirt!!! {lol}

In the words of that famous chef…

“BAM!”

Note, though it still looks a little orangy, straight red looked a little too cherry-like. Slight orange tint makes it fire-y, you know what I’m sayin’?

It looks braaather (short for “better, brah”)

So how does the payment for color work? There are lots of hues in the bachi.

Cool! You still think a white circle? I’m kinda on the fence about that.
What about a thicker circle too?

Well, I actually don’t know how the payment for colors work. I’m sure they wouldn’t charge for all the colors within the fade. (but I don’t know)

Again, any recommendations on places to have this swag made?

I think the red color was better, but it gets kinda cluttered when there is a lot of color going on. Having only Bachido in red is the way to go. It feels more solid and Japanese. A red itomaki in the center instead of red bachi tips could be cool too.

It should not be a thicker circle IMO.

Here’s an idea I had, to make it look a bit more special but still keeping it rather simple. I didn’t do a perfect job and the line width, placement of gradient and etc could be improved. But what do you guys think?

Sorry, I don’t know any sites for printing shirts

I love the colors , but one thing bothers me a little because my mind just saw this on the logo , but it’s really strating to look like some fancy gangsta car’s wheel  , i know it will get stuck in your mind too now , you can punch me in the face !

Haha!! It looks awesome, but I agree with Florian. The b/w fade looks like a shiny hubcap.

However, even without the fade, it still looks like a car part, and I do like the fade more. Not sure if it would be possible on a hakama…

I’ll put both versions by Masahiro and see what he thinks.

Gangsta car’s wheel!? You KNOW that will get my vote!

Just a bachi car  Well yes anyways it would look like that but it looks good.
I was thinking about something esle , to me the most recognizable part of the shamisen is the tenjin , we should explore some logos with a tenjin as well , what do you think ?

I think the tenjin looks cool too. It might have a little bit much stuff going on for a mon but it’s def worth a try!

I too think that a tenjin would be too much for a mon. The great thing about the bachi is that it is pretty symmetrical, which makes it have a look of authenticity.

However, a tenjin on a shirt would be great. Just not inside the mon. :-S

I’m ready to get a shirt finalized.

Hey everyone!

Apologies for being off the grid for so long. Granted, I guess it was only five days, but it really feels like months since I’ve been on here!

First off, it’s time to get a prototype of this shirt finally made!

I know we’ll have many different kinds to choose from (big mon on the front and a blank back, for example) but this’ll be a first try just to see it for realz.

Front

Back

Oh, per request, the backside circle will be thinner than this.

I’m gonna send it off tomorrow or the day after. So we all for it???

はい!

Thanks for going with the black & white bachis. Looks simple yet stylish.

I still dislike the itomaki in the o but oh well

I agree that the ring should be smaller.

Oh, you don’t like the itomaki in the O? What if it was a little darker?

I just don’t think it contributes with anything but distraction from the cool logo and the text.

Yeah, I do find it a little distracting, though I thought it was cool. :stuck_out_tongue:
What if it’s black?

You mean print black on black, so that the spirit of the itomaki remains? :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t think it would work even if you put a little white outline. But this is my opinion.
